From May 30, 2018. The leading fumed silica manufacturer Cabot Corporation increases the price for fumed silica up to 15 percent. The price increase is mainly caused by the cost rise of raw materials and transportation.
The price increase is both for CAB-O-SIL® fumed and colloidal silicas, CAB-O-SPERSE® aqueous dispersions, and SpectrAl® fumed alumina products.

The Price Increase Globally
The price for fumed silica has been increased globally since late 2017. Until May 2018, Wacker, Tokyoyama, Cabot has announced the price increase. China manufacturers like Xunyu Chemical adjusted fumed silica higher since Aug, 2017.
As a matter of fact, the price increases in China begins in June 2018 and it keeps going higher and higher now. What’s more, the demand for fumed silica in China keeps growing. The delivery date is up to 30 days or 40 days, some manufacturers even stop accepting new orders and quoting.
