Cabot to Build Fumed Silica Plant in Kentucky

Cabot will build a new fumed silica plant in Carrollton, Kentucky. To obtain the necessary government and regulatory approvals, the construction of the project is expected to begin in late 2017 and be operational by 2020.

This plant will be adjacent to the existing Dow Corning silicone monomer plant. Cabot and Dow Corning have been partners over 30 years. The plant is an extension of this long term relationship

This project will allow Cabot to meet the market demand. In recent two years, Wacker, Cabot and Evonik annouced four new plants in US and China to meet the growing fumed silica market demand.
